The stationary magnetic field states generated by ring concentrations of cyclonic convection in a sphere in the presence of broadly distributed, latitudinally nonuniform rotation are calculated. Both dipolar and quadrupolar stationary fields are generated. It is pointed out that, when the convection is confined to a pair of concentrated rings, stationary field modes are always excited for some dynamo numbers, regardless of the form of the nonuniform rotation. The stationary modes contain extended regions of reversed toroidal magnetic flux, so that fields generated by latitudinally nonuniform rotation are susceptible to sudden polarity reversals induced by fluctuations in the distribution of convection.
