We use a semi-analytical scheme (Extended Secondary Infall Model, or ESIM) to study the kinematics of collisionless cold dark matter halos. Specifically, we have investigated the phase space density profiles, ρ (r)/σ (r)3, of ESIM halos. Previously Taylor and Navarro (2001) had found that the phase-space density profile of N-body halos is well represented by a power law over 3 decades in radius. We have found that the phase space density profile of our semi-analytic ESIM halos is also well represented by a power law. This indicates that there is an underlying physical process, common to both N-body simulations and analytical ESIM method of halo formation that results in power law phase-space density profiles for virialized halos. We discuss the possibilities in investigating the origins and parameters necessary to create this power law relationship. This research was supported by the NSF grant AST 03-07604.
