The structure of a meteor swarm at any instant depends on the orbital elements of the parent body, its orbital position, and the velocity of the meteoric particles at the time of their ejection. The probability distributions of the orbital elements of meteoric particles as a function of the age of the swarm are calculated for specific orbital elements and orbital position of the parent body and some average velocities of isotropic ejection of meteoric particles. It is shown that ejection at aphelion of the parent body corresponds to a compact, more stable meteor swarm. With ejection at perihelion with velocities the order of 1 - 1.5 km/sec, the swarm after 20 - 30 kyr takes the form of a hollow toroid whose volume increases with time. The concentration of particles in the swarm gradually decreases, leading to a reduction of the probability of Earth encounter with a rich meteor shower.
