There is very good evidence for jets in gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). The energetics of GRBs is intimately tied to jets. Jets are a crucial part of the formation story, at least in the currently popular collapsar model. The current state of the field can be summarized by the following two questions: Do all GRBs have the same ``jetted'' geometry and the diversity in the observed properties merely a matter of viewing angle? Or is there a variation in the jets (opening angles, energy of explosion)? Historians of astronomy cannot but help notice the parallels between these two questions and the historical development of quasar astronomy. The review will summarize the current observational status in the framework defined by these two questions. My work is supported by NASA and NSF.
