Spectra of the shocked molecular hydrogen emission in the nebulosity surrounding T tauri are presented. This nebula is the result of the outflow from T Tauri impacting on ambient material. Lines observed include the 2 micron 1-0 and 2-1 transitions, plus the purely rotational lines near 3.8 microns. The intensities and spatial distribution of the various lines are compared to one another and to atomic (optical) emission-line images. The observations are applied to current shock models to determine the conditions within the shock (e.g. density, shock velocity), and its origin.
