Observations of the 85α and 106β recombination lines show helium and hydrogen to have similar states of thermodynamic equilibrium and imply the ratio of helium to hydrogen number densities to be 0.073 ± 0.008. The 85α, 106β, 121γ, and 133δ hydrogen line intensities are consistent with a mean electron temperature of 10[4] K over the core of the nebula but imply variations in temperature and hence variations in physical conditions over intervals of 1.5 arc min.
