Zinc telluride (ZnTe) thin films (d=0.15 μm - 2.40 μm) were deposited by quasi-closed volume technique under vacuum. X-ray diffraction patterns indicated that the films are polycrystalline and have a zinc blende structure. After a heat treatment, a significant increase of peak intensities, corresponding to (220) plane take place. The heat treatment determines a greater dispersion of crystallite height as compare to the not treated once. After heat treatment the transmission coefficient strongly decreases. The values of optical bandgap ranged between 1.95 eV and 2.40 eV, due to heat treatment.
