The 'pressure comparison' numerical method for theoretical magnetopause shape calculation is presented and tested in an illustrative situation in which the external plasma pressure is constant and homogeneous over the magnetopause. The absolute distances from the origin to the magnetopause, for every 30-deg interval, are listed for previous investigations and found to be two-and-one-third times smaller than those obtained by the present method prior to adjustment. The results obtained are then judged to be consistent.
