A bulk streaming motion of elliptical and spiral galaxies over and above the Hubble expansion gives a much better fit to the observations than pure Hubble flow. However, the fit shows significant quadrupolar residuals and varies with distance. The accuracy with which a motion of the Sun fits the observed anisotropy of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) is much better. A model in which the bulk flow of galaxies is replaced by the flow generated by a spherical mass concentration centred on l = 307, b = 9, Rm = 4350 km s-1 gives an even better fit if its gravity is sufficient to generate an inflow of Vm = 570±60 km s-1 at the Sun.
