Scientific paper

Reticon spectroscopy of four binary systems displaying EW or EB light curves are presented. Orbital parameters and minimum masses are derived for the first time for RR Cen, EZ Hya and RS Sct. From the five systems investigated in this survey to date, it is clear that contact systems and near-contact systems populate the same region of the total mass-total angular momentum plane.
