An investigation conducted into the accretion flows in nonsynchronous magnetic cataclysmic variables shows that, for orbital periods of less than 5 hr, a white dwarf magnetic field will probably prevent an accretion disk's formation and can channel the infalling matter onto large fractions of the white dwarf's surface. The spin data for these systems, suggesting magnetic moments of the order of 10 to the 33rd 10 to the 34th G/cu cm for the white dwarfs, agree with the evolutionary considerations presented by King et al. (1985), as well as the theoretical considerations of King (1983). Explanations are obtainable in this light for the orbital effects found in X-ray observations of EX Hya and AO Psc.
