Profile measurements for some multiplets of neutral oxygen and carbon have been carried out in a wall-stabilized d.c. cascade arc. The electron-impact half-widths and shifts are compared with theoretical values and other experimental data. Reasonable agreement between theoretical and experimental results are found for O I 3947 Å, O I 4368 Å, O I 5436 Å, and C I 5798 Å. For the multiplet O I 5330 Å, the available theoretical values differ considerably and the difference between experimentally determined and calculated shift is too large. Griem's theoretical half-width is close to the experimental value.
