The LEBAN procedure has been applied to analyze two SMM-observed flares (on Nov. 12, 1980, about 17:00 UT and on Nov. 18, 1980, about 15:00 UT). Estimated flare loop lengths and cross-sections have been compared with those derived from deconvolved HXIS images and/or estimated in different way by other authors. If the loop semilength L is known from other observations, this makes it possible to estimate the portion beta of the loop which was heated. Time variations of other important parameters characterizing the flare plasma are also discussed.
