A valuable intuitive tool to represent the geometrical aberrations of
optical systems, particularly derivatives of the Schmidt Camera, was the
plate-diagram analysis of C. R. Burch. It is described here how the
diagram may be constructed, and the diagram as applied to two-mirror
Schmidt-Cassegrain systems is given as an example.
