Based on the discrete-cloud model and a continuous spectrum of cloud absorption, a theoretical interstellar reddening distribution was developed for the Magellanic Clouds. The mathematical properties of the distribution are discussed. The distribution is compared with theory and observed LMC reddenings. It is suggested that this reddening distribution is in good agreement with the observed reddenings in the Magellanic Clouds and that it is well-suited for the analysis of Cepheid photometry using numerical simulations (Stift, 1984).
