Alfven and Klein (1962) and Alfven (1965) questioned the plausibility of asymmetry inherent in the big bang model of the universe, and the concept was considered that in the initial state the universe may have consisted of rarified, large-scale homogeneous ambiplasma in which the rate of annihilation would be very small. An important question is related to the size of the domains which might be formed under the influence of gravitational effects from the initial homogeneous state of the universe. The present investigation is concerned with the size of the smallest stable structure which a thin homogeneous mixture of matter and antimatter might sustain in the presence of its gravitational field. An analysis shows that the smallest domain which can be formed out of the initial state of the ambiplasma is of the size of a protometagalaxy. Any structure bigger than the protometagalaxy is unstable and will not survive. Structures smaller than the protometagalaxy may not be symmetric with respect to their matter, antimatter contents.
