High sensitivity observations at 1.3 mm are presented for 15 Markarian galaxies. Combining the new data with their recent results, the authors obtain a relation between total luminosity L and gas mass Mg: L/L_sun; = 3.4×104(Mg/M_sun;)0.74 for a statistically significant sample of 23 active galaxies. The change of L/Mg from nonactive to active galaxies is discussed in the framework of a theory for periodic bursts star formation.
