It has been suggested by Zel'dovich et al. that knowledge of the probability of the annihilation of antiprotons in helium can lead to limits on a number of astrophysical parameters that are closely connected with predictions of unified models of all fundamental interactions. The probability of this process was studied experimentally on the LEAR (Low Energy Antiproton Ring) facility at CERN. This made possible the first fully experimental determination of limits on the amount of antimatter in the early universe.
