A 22,000 s observation with EXOSAT of the X-ray source 4U 0053+60/Gamma Cassiopeiae reveals oscillations in the X-ray flux with a period of about 6000 s. The source also exhibits chaotic variability with time scales down to a few tens of seconds. This observation strengthens the hypothesis that the X-ray source is a neutron star in a wide orbit around the Be star γ Cas.
