In connection with projects of large conducting structures moving in ionized planetary environments, the author evaluates the linear electron plasma wave contribution to the power-loss of a body of arbitrary size, carrying a dc current or charge, and moving at velocity V through a warm plasma for which vi very low V very low ve, Ωe very low ωp. This loss stems from the plasma Landau damping. It is generally much larger than that due to Alfvén waves for a current flowing (perpendicular to V) in a long wire or a sphere of radius smaller than V/Ωi (≈35 m in low earth orbit), and of the same order of magnitude as that found previously for lower-hybrid waves, for a current in a long wire or a sphere. For a body carrying a dc charge, this power-loss in (damped) electron plasma waves can yield an important contribution to the drag.
