It is shown that the electric part of the Weyl tensor of gravitational waves in a Robertson-Walker (RW) background can be obtained by application of a differential operator to the solutions of the homogeneous equations: it follows that electric-type radiation can propagate without backscattering in the same RW backgrounds that allow propagation of magnetic-type radiation. A summary of the linearized Newman-Penrose equations used to analyze the problem is given, and the results of a complete integration for all first order quantities are given in a table.
