The time-space components of the macroscopic stress-energy tensor of a gravitational medium in general relativity are examined for the momentum density and energy flux of the microscopic gravitational fields. It is shown that the same energy density, momentum density, and stress which are attributed to gravitational fields in post-Newtonian theory also serve as a source of microscopic gravitational fields. Agreement with both the Newtonian approximation and Chandrasekhar's (1965) post-Newtonian approximation is found.
