Moessbauer spectroscopy was used to investigate the valence coordinated state of Fe ions in impactites and tectites in fine bombs and slags. On the basis of an analysis of the obtained Moessbauer spectra, it is concluded that: (1) the content of trivalent Fe ions reached as high as 21 percent of the total of Fe ions; (2) bivalent Fe ions tended to congregate in groups of six in impactites and tectites; and (3) the nearest grouping of Fe ions in impactite and tectite slags was highly ordered in comparison with impactites in fine bombs.
