Soft X-ray observations of Nova Mus 83 and Nova Vul 84(1) by EXOSAT are described. Nova Mus 83 continues to emit X-rays 18 and 23 months after the outburst at the same intensity as the original observation 15 months after outburst. Nova Vul 84(1) was observed at optical maximum and not detected; a second observation three months later yields a 2 sigma signal. The results are discussed in terms of the possible origin of the X-rays. A hot white dwarf model is suggested.
