We have redetermined the orbits of the 5 major satellites of Uranus using Earthbased astrometric observations (1911 to 2006) and Voyager imaging observations (1985-86). These orbits provide an update to those previously published by Jacobson et al. (1986, AIAA-86-2059-CP).
The distinctive features of this new determination are the use of a J2000 reference system, the addition of the latest Earthbased observations from 1986 to 2006, and the addition of older Earthbased observations dating back to 1911. Our previous integration was limited to data spanning 1973 to 1985.
The RMS of the postfit residuals of the groundbased data is 0."16, The RMS of the newer (post-Voyager) data is 0."13, which is slightly better than 0."19 for the older data. Individual data sets from different observers range from 0."07 to 0."52, with over 80% of the data fitting to better than 0."20.
