A quick extraction of a red Keck I+LRIS spectrum of SN 2007fq in MCG
-04-48-19 (Chu and Li, CBET #1001), obtained on July 17 2007, shows that
this event is a type Ia SN. Using the superfit package (Howell et al.
2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) the best fit appears to be the peculiar type Ia SN
2001ay.
