1E 161348-5055 is a compact, radio-quiet X-ray source lying at the center of the 2000-years-old supernova remnant RCW103. Its original identification as an isolated neutron star was questioned in recent years by the detection of long term X-ray flux variations. A very recent, long XMM-Newton observation performed in August 2005 by our group led to the unambiguous evidence of a 6.6 hours periodicity, settling the case for a unique phenomenology. In view of the source variability, we proposed a monitoring campaign to be performed during 2006 using XRT onboard Swift. Here we ask for a new 70 ks XMM triggered observation to be performed if a significant change of the flux level is recorded.
