ASCA and BeppoSAX obs. of ultracompact (Porb<1hr) LMXBs revealed 2 possible spectral differences compared to other systems. These are (1)the presence of a discrete feature near 0.7keV (attributed to local overabundance of Ne), and (2)the parameter values when fit with a disk-blackbody and Comptonized continuum.Chandra and XMM observations complicated the picture, confirming a Ne overabundance only in few ultracompact sources, suggesting a possible variability. We wish to test2possible explanations for this variability, and to clarify the emerging picture of a spectral signature for the ultracompact systems using XMM.We propose here to observeX1832-330,the only persistent ultracompact LMXRB in a globular cluster still not investigated with high resolution spectroscopy.
