New measurements on elliptical galaxies show that out to distances corresponding to 6000 km s-1 the Hubble flow is perturbed by a motion (relative to the microwave background here) of 700 km s-1 towards l = 290°, b = 2° (α = 11h, δ = -60°). The Hydra Centaurus supercluster takes part in this motion so its gravity is not the cause. This motion confirms the Rubin-Ford effect and can also be found in more recent work on spiral galaxies.
