It is demonstrated that an interferometer can measure the abundance of helium in the Jupiter atmosphere. The accuracy of the determinations is proved by hundreds of simulations in an artificial Jupiter atmosphere. For eliminating other gases, an appropriate absorber was found and its influence on the helium determinations was analyzed. The corresponding correcting function was used for computing the measured data with an incorporated absorber. The helium content of the very accurately prepared gas mixtures, with or without an addition of other gases, was determined with a precision of + or - 0.1 percent.
