High-redshift QSOs (quasi-stellar objects) provide information on the early history and evolution of the universe. Hazard and McMahon (1985) have demonstrated an approach for using unfiltered UK Schmidt telescope (UKST)IIIa-F low-dispersion objective prism plates in searches for QSOs at redshifts up to at least z approximately equal to 3.7. A report is presented regarding the employment of this technique in the discovery of a QSO, 1208 + 1011, with a redshift z = 3.80. This achievement indicates that redshifts exceeding 4 could soon be attained. Attention is given to a finding chart of 1208 + 1011, measured wavelengths of emission lines with corresponding redshifts, a table with QSOs having values for z which are equal to or greater than 3.3, and IIIa-F prism spectra.
