On November 20, 1978, Danish astronomy passed a milestone: The Danish
1.5 m telescope on La Silla made its first astronomical observations.
This marks the beginning of an era we have long looked forward to, when
this powerful new tool will vastly increase the scope as weil as the
extent of our possibilities for research in the southern hemisphere.
