In 2050 a prosperous world of 10 B people (B=109) will require approximately 60 TWt of thermal (t) power (T=1012). By 2050 the 20 TWe of electric (e) power will provide an equal value of goods and services. Conventional power systems can not provide either the level of total power or energy due to limited fuels, contamination of the biosphere, and costs. Solar power beamed to Earth via microwaves from facilities on the Moon can provide adequate power at reasonable cost by 2050 and more thereafter.
