On the basis of data obtained by the recent HEAO-2 observations of X-ray emission from the Orion Nebula, and with a view to the suggestion of further analyses and observations, consideration is given to plausible optical counterparts through consideration of those observational traits which have not been taken into account. Nebular variables are seen as the most likely candidates for X-ray emission, by means either of shock heating through mass outflow or infall, or the mechanical energy dissipation heating of the coronae surrounding these stars.
