Observations of the sun were made at the Solar-Observatory Kanzelhoehe, and results are presented for the solar rotation from 1970 to 1979. The daily rotation of the sun is derived for 5 degree belts from 1355 different sunspots, and these results are fitted to a function using the method of least squares. An attempt is made to show that the derived rotation rate depends on the type of sunspots, and it is found that to establish a change in the law of rotation, data covering a greater time interval is necessary.
