Interstellar dust continues to present challenges to theoretical astrophysics. Our theoretical models of what interstellar grains are, and how they behave, are increasingly constrained -- and guided -- by observations, from microwaves to X-rays.
I will review the current state of play as regards (1) modeling the extinction and scattering by interstellar grains -- from the infrared to X-rays -- and (2) the emission spectrum of the dust, from microwaves to infrared.
