We present results from a multiwavelength study of moderate redshift (z=0.2-0.5) groups of galaxies discovered in the ROSAT Deep Cluster Survey (RDCS; Rosati et al. 1998). Groups represent the most common environment for galaxies, and they are, therefore, an important laboratory for studying the processes associated with galaxy formation and evolution as well as the growth of large scale structure. Optical and X-ray observations of nearby groups have revealed strong trends between the morphologies of the member galaxies and global group properties, such as velocity dispersion and X-ray emission, but little is known about these important systems at higher redshifts. We investigate for the first time the evolution of X-ray selected groups of galaxies with a combination of ground-based optical imaging and spectroscopy and detailed space-based X-ray and optical observations using XMM-Newton and HST.
