Some possible models for the eclipsing binary system PSR 1718-19 have been reviewed. The evolutionary picture based on Zwitter (1993) stripped main-sequence (M-S) turn-off star model is explicitly calculated and discussed. Both the accretion induced collapse (AIC) scenario with the young neutron star and the capture scenario with the old neutron star are discussed. Also the evolutionary scenario with the destructive tidal heating of the PSR 1718-19 is discussed, (Verbunt 1994). It is shown that the AIC condition may be favourable in the stripped M-S turn-off scenario since then it is possible to avoid a nova explosion with violent mass loss.
