Based on our 19 night photometric search for transiting extrasolar planets in the open cluster NGC 1245, we place an upper limit on the fraction of stars in the cluster that harbor close-in Jupiter radii companions. Monte-carlo injection and boxcar recovery of transits in the observed light curves provide the basis for calculating the efficiency for transit detection. This cluster is the first target of the Search for Transiting Extrasolar Planets in Stellar Systems (STEPSS) project whose goal is to assess the frequency of close-in extrasolar planets in several open clusters of known metallicity, stellar density, and age in order to constrain the impact of these parameters on the planet formation process.
