The purpose of the study is to extend an analysis of fully ionized plasmas to situations in which substantial amounts of electrically charged dust are present. An analysis of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in dusty plasmas is performed, in which the plasma ions and electrons are treated as separate compressive fluids, while the charged dust is considered to be a fixed background of extremely massive dust grains, all with the same magnitude of the charge, a positive (negative) charge applying for negatively (positively) charged grains. The relationship between the critical shear in the ion velocity along the magnetic field and the charge residing on dust grains is determined.
