The effect of the Galaxy's gravitational field upon apparent positions of discrete extragalactic sources of radiation is analysed in approximation of a two-component model of mass distribution comprising disc and spherical components. As has been found, multiple images of a source can never appear if the observer stays within the lens which the Galaxy is. The largest apparent displacement of the sources (|νg| ≡ 10-5) is observed near the Galactic plane. Ray tracing in the vicinity of the plane has shown that ducting effects do not appear in the model where the disc component has the mass Md ≍ 8·1010Msun and the halfwidth H ≍ 600 pc.
