The effect of the Galaxy's gravitational field on the brightness and spatial density of extragalacitc discrete sources is analysed. As has been found for a two-component model of mass distribution involving a disk and a spherical component, the gravitational field of the disk leads to small increase in the apparent brightness (≡10-5), while reducing the spatial density of sources (≡10-5) within a strip of nearly 15° about the Galactic plane. Among possible spherical components (like a bulge, a halo or a corona), the bulge is the most efficient. Its gravitational field increases the brightness of sources (≡10-6), and reduces their density in the direction of the Galactic center.
