Combining spectroscopic radial-velocity measures and photometric light-curve solutions has allowed the authors to model the short-period RS CVn-like system CG Cygni. The mass ratio is 1.0 and the system is detached. Long-term brightening is best explained by a steady increase in the temperature of the hotter star. The photometric distortion "wave" is rapidly variable and has a complex shape. Standard starspot models fail to reproduce the observed light curves.
