The authors have used the NRAO Very Large Array to search for emission
from the 2π3/2 ground-state transitions of
hydroxyl in the direction of the nearby Sc galaxy M33. They detected no
hydroxyl masers and conclude that there are no type I masers in M33 that
are as luminous as the brightest type I masers in our galaxy.
