Center-type singular points are observed in the chromosphere, indicating that electric currents can cross the plane of the chromosphere. These currents are associated with spots having an azimuthal field or with filaments. The centers are observed in the vicinity of spot penumbras or near sharply etched filament ends. In the first case the singular points form a knot-saddle-center group, while in the second they form isolated singular points. It is suggested that the current of a filament can be considered as an external parameter in the problem of filament equilibrium and stability.
