Calculations confirm the eruptive hypothesis according to which the light variability of R CrB is caused by extinction of the radiation of the star in an infinitely expanding elementary dust cloud. By varying the mass of the dust component, a set of elementary light curves is obtained whose superposition can be used to approximate the real curves. The calculated light curve is compared with the observed minimum of 1972.
