The detection of a high-velocity component of the diffuse ionized gas in the anomalous H-alpha arm of NGC 4258 from new long-slit spectra in the H-alpha regime is reported. This gas component deviates by up to 250 km/s from the undisturbed velocity field. The nuclear emission lines are found to be asymmetric in the NW-SE direction. The emission lines in the 'jet'-like structure are broad, with FWHM up to 350 km/s, and the ionization within this structure changes to lower excitation with increasing distance from the nucleus.
