New spectrophotometry of the nuclei of an optically complete sample of 93 spiral galaxies brighter than integrated magnitude brightness temperature of 12.0 is presented. All the nuclei exhibit emission lines. These are divided into those produced by stellar photoionization (H II regions) and low-ionization emission regions. In addition, five Seyfert nuclei occur in this sample, including one (NGC 4941) not previously identified. Relations between nuclear luminosity and emission-line luminosity, and between the character of the emission spectrum and line luminosity, are presented.
