Pulsed emission of very high-energy (energies greater than 10 to the 12th eV) gamma-rays from the Crab and Vela pulsars was observed using an 18-reflector Ooty Cerenkov telescope in the distributed mode, determining the arrival direction of individual showers to about 0.3 deg. A note is made of the sporadic character of the Crab pulsar emission with significant variability of the pulsed flux over periods of tens of minutes; pulsed flux of (2.2 + or - 0.5) x 10 to the -11th ph/sq cm s was measured at energies of greater than 9 x 10 to the 11th eV, which agrees well with the extrapolated values both in amplitude and spectral slope. For the Vela pulsar the time-averaged pulsed flux is (1.0 + or - 0.4) x 10 to the -11th ph/sq cm s at energies greater than 2.3 x 10 to the 12th, which is about two orders of magnitude smaller than the extrapolated value. It is concluded that a large difference exists between the emissions from these two pulsars.
