We report on Chandra observations of 20ks each on the high redshift radio galaxies 0156-252 0406-244 0828+193 2036-254 and 2048-272. These data were obtained to evaluate the hot gas conditions around the radio galaxies (i.e. are they in proto clusters or has the cluster already formed?) to determine if there is an over-density of AGN in the field surrouding the radio galaxies to ascertain if some of the X-ray emission could be non-thermal and to search for evidence of interactions between the radio structures and any ambient gas. In all cases the nucleus of the host galaxy is detected as well as off-nuclear emission which appears to be aligned with the radio axes. We will discuss the origin of this radio/X-ray alignment effect in high redshift radio galaxies. The work at SAO was partially supported by NASA grant GO2-3139B and contract NAS8-39073.
